Until the beginning of the nineties, PADI itself was involved in the training of PADI Instructors. This was done in several PADI Colleges around the world. The two most known and respected were the PADI International College in Santa Ana with its "Gold Course" and the PADI European College in Cannes with its "VIP Course". Both courses were more than just an Instructor Course (IDC). The courses were complete educational programs , preparing candidates  to make effective use of all the possibilities the PADI system of diver education has to offer, along with commercial, technical and environmental training.

In the beginning of the nineties, the " mission " the Colleges were created for was considered completed. By that time, there were enough IDC Centers around the world to assure the training of future PADI Instructors. PADI did not feel comfortable anymore in the resulting position "competition of their own IDC center membership". The PADI International College and the PADI European College were closed. With that the concept of the full-career-programs died.

In years of preparation and hard work the Instructor Training College has collected all the resources needed to offer a demanding and completely new version of the VIP Instructor curriculum. 2006 is the year in which the full-career-program is brought back to life. After a pause of 12 years you now again have the chance to accelerate a career in the diving industry by completing the VIP curriculum.

The program has been adapted to the  expectations from the diving industry of today, but the concept stays the same. As in the past, the educational objectives are:

• To give you the knowledge and skills needed to take benefit of all the options the PADI Educational system has to offer.
• To prepare you for the technical challenges of a dive center with respect to its installations and the diving equipment.
• To prepare you for your role in sales and for the commercial aspects involved in your work in the diving industry.
• To inform you clearly on the environmental factors of diving and to develop your knowledge of marine life to the extent needed to motivate and inform your guests.
• To assist you with your career in the industry by means of our job-placement-service.

The VIP Instructor Curriculum is your best chance to excel in the diving industry. The slogan from the Instructor Training College applies especially to VIP Graduates - Not only certified . . . but also qualified!!!
