The Return of a Legendary Course
for Diving Professionals

Phase 3 - Module 6

Module:

This module starts with training on working with handicapped divers (or better, training divers with physical challenges). The morning of the first day covers the theory behind the subject. In the afternoon we go in the pool. During this practical training half of the group will do sensibility training (simulating different physical challenges themselves), while the other group takes up the role of instructors to assist the divers to find alternate techniques for skills to work around the limitations in mobility. During the second day, the practical session is repeated in the open water.

The remainder of the course is dedicated to learn how to teach some practical specialty courses. Specifically we teach you how to conduct the DPV (scooter), navigation, night diver and search & recovery diver specialties. This means that we are in the water two times per day and spend the time between the dives on the theory behind the subject.

For the navigation specialty, the IT College developed a special tool called the "Scuba Sextant", which you are going to be using during the course. The search & recovery specialty requires some more theory and is for that reason supported by an Instructor Kit from Scuba Publications.

This module is not so much "loaded" with theory as the other modules and candidates always find this module a welcome moment to enjoy the activity which they came for in the first place - diving - before going on again with more demanding subjects.

At the end of this module you will receive the following credentials: Instructor for handicapped divers, Instructor for Dive guides for handicapped divers, Navigation Instructor, Night Diving Instructor, DPV Instructor and Search & Recovery Instructor.
