VIP Instructor
The Return of a Legendary Course
for Diving Professionals

Phase 3 - Module 3

Module:

If the compressor is down, there is no more diving. You can consider the compressor to be "the heart" of a dive center. Today most compressors are combined with an installation to fill Nitrox, which has become a popular breathing gas in recent years. Dive computers are always a subject of discusion between divers. Both subjects are part of the technical background a VIP Instructor is supposed to have.

The morning of the first day we will teach the theory of your Nitrox (Enriched Air) Instructor course. You learn how to teach the course and how to use the different Nitrox tables. The afternoon we will cover decompression theory, which is the mathematics behind the functioning of diving computers.

Day 2 is the start of the compressor course. In the morning we will explain the fuctioning of all the individual parts of a compressor. You will get all these parts in your hands and we will explain what will happen if that part is not functioning correctly or broken . In the afternoon we will then disassemble and assemble a compressor and take a look at different types of compressors. For this part of your course the IT College is equipped with several compressor blocks specially for practicing.

Day 3 is used to finish the compressor course and to teach you how to fill Nitrox with constant flow, partial pressure and membrane methods. As Nitrox has become very popular, a diving professional at the level of VIP instructor must be able to fill Nitrox and must know the advantages and inconveniences of the different systems to do so.

Day 4 we will do the practical part of your Nitrox Instructor course, combined with the Multi-Level Instructor course (which is closely related to your course on diving computers).

Day 5 will be a summary of the previous 4 days. This module is rather technical and requires some reinforcement. This will be done in the form of answering your questions, assigning you a part of the course to present yourself and doing a written exam (for the Nitrox blender part).

At the end of this module, you receive the following credentials: EDI (Electronic Diving Instruments) Instructor, Nitrox Instructor, Compressor Handling Instructor, DSAT Gas Blender Instructor and Multi-level Instructor.

Note: the course does not automatically give you the authority to repair compressors all over the world. It is always the local importer who sets the requirements for repair technicians. You should also check if there are local regulations with respect to filling Nitrox. In most countries there are not, but there are exceptions.
