If you are not yet a diver, you can participate in the VIP Instructor Program. In that case you start you training with Phase 1 and (because of your lack of diving experience); you will have to opt for the optional Phase 4 as in integral part of your training. Students who start with Phase 1 will do a complete 6 month training program.
In phase 1 you will start with your PADI Open Water Diver Course . With its 5 theory sessions, 5 pool sessions and 4 dives in open water, the course will take 4 to 5 days. Once this course is done you will gain experience as a diver in varying diving conditions. You will typically dive 2 or 3 times each day and spend the time between dives to prepare for your Advanced Open Water Diver Course by reading the Adventures in Diving manual.
When the Advanced Open Water Diver Course is finished and you have logged a total of 50 dives, Phase 1 of your training is completed. In a full-time course situation, this would take approximately one month. In phase 1 you will spend between 40 and 50 hours underwater and we will want you to be exposed to different conditions.
Divers who are already certified beyond entry level and who have a minimum of 50 logged dives do not have to do Phase 1 of the VIP Instructor Program. In case you are not sure if your certification would be accepted as an equivalent, you can contact us under vip@instructor-training.com . It can also be that a certified diver only has to complete a part of Phase 1. In that case the requirement for participation in Phase 4 depends on the experience the diver has.
